Rev. Brian A. Walker, Youth and Young Adult Minister
Rev Brian A. Walker is a native of Blackstone, Virginia where he attended Mount Zion RZUA church and at the age of 10 accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized.
He earned an Associate’s degree from Richard Bland College where he met his wife Sheila. They were married in 1987 and were blessed with a daughter and son.
Rev Walker went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology from Southern Illinois University while serving in the United States Air Force honorably for five years.
He accepted the call to preach in 2010 and preached his initial sermon in June 2011.
Rev Walker then went on to earn a Master’s degree in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary.
He then earned a second Master’s degree a Master of Divinity from the Samuel Dewitt
Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University.
He currently serves as the youth and young adult minister here at Second Baptist Church in Chester, Va. where Rev Johnnie Fleming Jr serves as the pastor. His favorite scripture is Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT)

Brian Walker has been a long standing member of Second Baptist Church(SBC). I, Johnnie Fleming, Jr., Pastor have watched him mature into a great servant of the Lord. He has prepared himself for this divine assignment. It has been my high honor and pleasure to observe his faith, growth and commitment to the kingdom as well to the ministry for SBC.
He announced his call to preach in June 2011 and preached his initial sermon in 2014 and was ordained by the Second Baptist Church, Chester VA, Johnnie Fleming Jr, pastor. Since then, he has performed Marriages, Funerals and has administered Communion.
Rev Walker received a Masters of Pastoral Counseling from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and provides Counseling as part of a spiritual collateral expectation. He earned a Masters of Divinity Degree from Virginia Union University, Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology in May 2013.
In 2012 Rev Walker served as Young Adult Minister establishing a young adult bible study.
In 2013, He became the Youth/Young Adult Minister and under his leadership, adjustments were made to capture more participation of our young people. He continues to develop and have rapport with our music directors to work with our jewel and ensemble choir.
He continues to coordinate and manage annual events:
-Youth lock ins.
-Provide back to school supplies to under privileged students who may need assistances.
-Hallelujah Celebrations, providing an alternative for young people from knocking on doors to solicit candies, we provide safe space for sharing, food, fun, fellowship and most of all Jesus Christ.
In 2015 due to the poorly Sunday school attendance he was led to move the Sunday school curriculum to children’s church where Youth attendance has been improved.
In 2016 Reestablished the Youth Retreat at Eagle Eyrie for middle and high school aged youth.
In 2017 Created a forum for local youth leaders called “Kingdom Minded Youth Leaders” who meet quarterly to discuss and plan combined Youth events. Organized and coordinated a very good outing with the Joy-fest at Kings Dominion.
In 2018 Reverend Walker’s passion and love to transport our youth led him to apply and acquire a CDL bus license from DMV to better support the Youth and transporting them to various ministry events.
Established Teen Church for Youth age 13-18 who meet on 2nd and 4th Sunday’s separating from the main sanctuary following Youth alter prayer and move upstairs to classroom Love.
Recently organized, coordinated and transported our youth to support “The March For Our Lives held in Washington DC” on March 24, 2018.
The ministry continues to stand in appreciation of our servant Leader. The first Sunday in May, we will celebrated his 5th Anniversary at SBC.
