Rev. Charles E. Sumpter, Associate Minister

Rev. Charles E. Sumpter is a native of Hampton, Virginia, but currently resides in Chester, Virginia with his wife Agatha Lynn, and two daughters Briana, and Jasmine.

He retired from the US Army in 2004; serving his country for 28 years in various assignments around the world.

He is a graduate of Norfolk State University with a Bachelors degree in History; Master’s degree in Business from Central Michigan University; Master’s equivalent from the US Army War College in the area of Strategic Studies and a Master of Divinity from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union.  Further, He earned his Doctor of Ministry (DMIN) from the Rawlings School of Divinity at Liberty University. Rev. Sumpter is currently an associate minister serving at Second Baptist Church, Chester, Virginia under the leadership of the Rev. Johnnie Fleming.

Upon accepting the mission to preach the Gospel, Rev. Sumpter is striving to be a reflection of the one who is called the light of the world.

His favorite scripture is Nehemiah 8:8 which states “They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving meaning so that the people understood what was being read”.
